If your dog is anything like my dog, he will eat just about anything that lands in his bowl; however, everything we may eat or want to give our pup is not good for them.
For example, chocolate!
We’ve all heard the dangers of giving a dog chocolate. But did you know the following items are also on the BANNED list?
Candy or Chewing gum (Xylitol)
Chips or other salty “human snacks”
Coffee and Tea
Garlic and Onions
Macadamia Nuts and Walnuts
Whatever you do, please do not feed your dog these items! Certain substances found in these foods can cause serious problems. Your pooch’s liver and kidneys can be affected.
Take avocados. Avocados contain persin, which is toxic for dogs.
Chewing gum and other items that contain Xylitol should definitely be avoided. Xylitol increases insulin production in dogs, leading to liver failure.
Did you know that feeding your pup garlic and onions can cause anemia? Garlic and onions affect their red blood cells.
Or grapes. Grapes have been known to cause kidney failure in dogs.
It is best to keep these foods away from your furry friend, but it helps to be prepared.
Be sure to keep emergency vet information close – posting a list on the fridge is the best place.
Keeping these foods away from your furry friend is yet another way to love your pet!
